Primary’s Incubation arm launched in 2019 to support the ideation, research and launch of new startups. The firm’s first three incubated companies will return its first fund many times over, and Primary is now primed for substantial growth in its Incubation efforts in 2022. In line with our commitment to invest in the greatest companies and people in New York, we are looking to hire an Incubation Talent Lead to lead and scale our incubation talent acquisition efforts. This person will source, vet, and sell the best operators in New York on joining Primary portfolio companies in C-Suite, founding team roles. Additionally, this person will work collaboratively within the firm to scale their efforts, which will include building a team over time.

The ideal candidate has worked in an urgent recruiting environment (agency or internal) and has strong recruiting experience sourcing and hiring top talent in New York City. Our team is looking for someone with the creativity and experience to thrive at sourcing candidates at the top-of-the-funnel and also evaluating and selling them on unique startup leadership opportunities as they move through the funnel.

The perfect candidate is available to work full-time in NYC and has the following characteristics:

• A passion for venture and NYC tech — you track the NYC startup market and have an incredible network in the ecosystem.
• Self-starting attitude — you are someone we can trust to own urgent hiring projects, delivering a great experience and results to our founders.
• Early stage recruiting background — you have 2-5 years of experience working in a fast paced environment, driving top-tier talent into NYC tech companies. No previous venture experience is required. Ideally you have experience recruiting for both technical and non-technical roles.
• Strong track record — you are goal oriented and a high performer by nature. You have successfully managed the first hiring stages including job intake, sourcing, screening, and interviewing and closing.
• Network builder – you are able to establish and develop relationships with external talent for future opportunities, as well as with internal stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurship and resourcefulness are in your DNA. Need to get an answer or get something done? You will make that cold call. You will ask for that favor. You will bust down that door. You do what it takes!

Compensation will depend on the specific person and their previous work experience, but will be market competitive and will include upside in our fund.
